Tuesday Tales - Funny

It`s time for Tuesday Tales!

Today we have a snippet from Touch of a Yellow Sun., Colors of Love #2, my current MM hockey romance WIP. In this opposites attract tale instigator and on-ice pain-in-the-ass Marek Hafer and yogi Shey Pierson find themselves living next door to each other. Talk about conflicting professions! Will the two men’s personalities clash as well, or will they be able to find some common ground to build a relationship on?

Our word prompt today is “Funny”.

This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!

Okay, so this was a first.

People waiting for me outside the players entrance dressed up in ears and whiskers calling themselves Hafer’s Hamsters as if it were a thing of pride. Nary a cuss word or rubber rat was being hurled at me. Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, had I ever had fans like this small knot of numskulls. Most fans in the leagues above us looked down their noses at the players like me. Some understood the role we played but they were always outgunned in online discussions, so anyone like a Marek Hafer was a troll who needed routed from the ranks. Maybe here in the hills fans weren’t as snooty about things, or perhaps they were drunk.

Whatever. They were here, asking for autographs, and having a good time and isn’t that what sports is all about? The twenty of them were a vocal bunch, kind of like me. We bonded instantly.

Stepping out onto home ice with the arena three-quarters full was a treat. Sure, there were a few scattered boos but mostly cheers when the starting lineup was introduced. My backers squeaked like hamsters when my name was called. It was funny as shit. A few stuffed hamsters hit the ice as did a Frisbee and a can of beer. Ah, the minor leagues.

Great snippet! Peeking into his head, I feel like I know him and can feel him. Cute, funny, and poignant all at the same time.
