Saturday Story Spotlight - Blindsided by Melody Heck Gatto

Sam Morris, the “surfer-boy” hockey star of the Renegades is married to the sister of his team captain and lifelong friend, Tyler Kidd. The game runs through his veins. Trina’s love saved him from himself after a losing season and successive injuries. She was his life, his partner in crime, and his biggest fan. Adding their daughter to the mix gave him the perfect hat-trick in life. Hockey, love, and a family.

Trina Kidd Morris knows hockey is a way of life. She used to sing the anthem at the games in Winnipeg. She grew up in the hockey world and understands how the players are wired. She knows the level of dedication the guys put into the game. It is a state of mind for them, not a choice. Her husband brought her back to life after a devastating loss. He saved her when she needed saved the most. He is her hero, her love, and her best friend.

Sam and Trina have a fairytale marriage. The love of a lifetime. A match made in heaven. Beautiful and blond, with a little mini-me, they’re the picture-perfect family. There’s no behind the scenes drama, they’re happy and in love at home as they are in public. They’re the couple other couples were jealous of.

Blindsided by a scary hit that sends him to the hospital, Sam’s career is suddenly in jeopardy. Doing what comes naturally, he puts the game before his family, until the ice cracks around him. With his career threatened, the lines become blurred between good choices and bad. Playing becomes his main focus, leaving Trina to pick up the pieces.

They vowed: in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, on-ice or off. Trina pledged to support her man and always stand at his side. But emotions run high, words cut deep, and loyalty only goes so far. A mother’s instinct is always to protect her family, and Trina’s only choice may be to do just that.

When his game plan veers off course, Sam pushes away everyone he loves. But being alone is a worse hell than addiction. Now his only choice is to dig his skates into the ice and fight. Fight for his family, his career, and his health.

But first he has to get his priorities straight, before his entire world falls apart.
