Halloween Scare Trail Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Halloween Scare Trail Blog Hop!

Is this event great or what? Fifteen authors offering fifteen prizes. Talk about spooktacular! For those who aren't familiar with me I'll take just a second to introduce myself...

I live in the mountains of Pennsylvania on a small hobby farm with my husband of 27 years, my daughter, one dog, two cats, two Jersey steers, a flock of  chickens, and a pair of geese. When I’m not writing I can be found watching hockey – LET’S GO RANGERS!! – geeking out over Dr. Who and Torchwood, reading Marvel comics, doing yoga, and drinking coffee.

I write under the super-secret (it’s not at all secret everyone and their llama knows who I am) penname V.L. Locey and my books are predominately MM hockey because it’s the genre of my heart, but I do dabble in non-sporty contemporary books as well as paranormal MM romance.

Isn't this time of year the perfect segue into a monster movie/paranormal romance chat?

I’ve always loved Halloween, even as a child it was my favorite holiday. Partly because of the candy, but also because of the awesome horror movies they’d play on TV leading up to Halloween. There were all those old classic films such as The Mummy, Dracula, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and my all-time top monster, The Wolfman played by Lon Chaney Jr.! There was always some kind of fascination for me with people who could shift into animals even way back when.

I still carry that love of shapeshifters with me and was thrilled to be able to pen a short series of MM shifter novellas later in life. My Lake Erie shifter novellas have been a wonderful excursion from my usual hockey romances. They’re full of magical beings such as skunk and wolf shifters, witches, elves, vampires, and evil mages called the Elder Council. If you’re a fan of MM paranormal romance, feel free to check out “An Erie Collection”, available now on all major book retailers sites—

You can now have all four of the Lake Erie pack novellas in this one reasonably priced collection! Included in the set are the previously released novellas: An Erie Halloween, An Erie Operetta, and An Erie Garden Party. To round off this whimsical and romantic shifter set is a brand-new novella, An Erie Uprising!

It’s been one wonderfully romantic year since skunk shifter Templeton Reed met Mikel Lupei, the alpha wolf of the Lake Erie pack. During that year, the two men fell in love and worked side-by-side to solve some tricky murder mysteries. They also opened up Lupei Manor, Mikel’s familial home, to other LGBTQ mystical beings in the Erie area. Sadly, being gay in the supernatural world Templeton and Mikel live in can be a death sentence.

During the past year, the magical world has slowly been coming unraveled. Civil unrest now runs rampant through the community as the lesser breeds revolt against the hateful dictates of the Elder Council. The uprising will surely touch every person residing in the magical world near Lake Erie. Will the flames of unrest and war consume everything and everyone Templeton and Mikel hold dear as well?

Monster movie? Easy! I'm going with the original Dracula, wich set me on the path to reading paranormal books. Though if there is a monster movie I've watched over and over again, it has to be Van Helsing ;)
P.s.: I read one of the comments already posted, and I gotta say I agree: Selene really is a badass!

My favorite monster movie is ghost busters the older version. There’s some scary ness to the movie as well as humor which we all knows! I think the part with the man with slim and goo coming or flowing out of the sewers of the city is crazy and scary at the same time. Who comes out of a painting!

I'm not sure if I'd consider it a monster movie, but my favorite Halloween movie is Hocus Pocus because "Amok, amok, amok."
Other than that, I'd have to say Monsters, Inc. because it's so sweet, funny, and well done.

I really don’t like scary anymore so my favorite is Monsters Inc.

I actually don't have a favourite movie. When I was younger I used to sneak out of the room to read instead. I 'may' do the same as an adult!!

My favorite as a kid was Nightmare on Elm Street movies. As an adult i dont like scary movies at all. I would probably be able to watch the jason, freddy and michael movies but not the ones involving houses or dreams so the pretty much means id have to pick jason.

Not really a "monster" although he thinks he is, I love just abput every version of the phantom of the opera.
And Jaws.
And Dracula.
And also questionable if it is a monster, the Fog.
And the loveable monster, Pete's Dragon. The original. The is kinda hokey in a fun way while the remake is kinda hokey in a tries to hard way.

I don't do scary horror movies. I enjoy humorous monster movies like Ghostbusters and Monsters, Inc. My all time favorite movie, bar none, is The Rocky Horror Picture Show with Tim Curry!

I like some classics like old B&W Dracula movies. The first one I saw, the 1931 Bela Lugosi version, was creepy but not gory and I continue to compared all other movies to this one.
Thanks for the chance. j dot stonewright at gmail dot com

1931 Dracula with Bela Lugosi has to be my favorite. There is just something about the "simplicity" of the old classic that heightens the creepy effect and being pre-code it does hint more at the sensual appeal Dracula uses to charm his victims. Its just an all around great film that creeps you out and entertains at the same time. -Heather York

I love every horror movie you mentioned! LOL The old Frankenstein was my favorite but I truly love them all. We had a place in the Pocono when I was growing up. It was back in the woods on a mountain that was backed by a state park. Perfect place to watch scary movies!

I wonder does Edward the Scissorhand count? If not then it will be Harry Potter!

Horror movie: Unbreakable, or maybe Split. I don't watch much horror these days. The scariest ever: The Ring. The grossest? Saw, or The House of 1000 Corpses, both of which I suffered through watching thanks to my roommates & friends. I sat and tried to zen myself into a happy place... and drank a lot of beer!
