It’s time for Tuesday
Tales!
Welcome back! This week
is our picture prompt week and all posts must be 300 words or under and reflect
the chosen image. Today we have a snippet from Touch of a Yellow Sun, Colors of Love #2. Today’s excerpt has us
seeing a gentler side of my boy Marek.
Thanks so much for
dropping by!
I rapped on that pretty
white door and waited out in the hallway like a gentleman. Shey tugged the door
open, obviously confused when he saw me standing in the corridor with an
envelope in my hand.
“You don’t have to
knock,” he reminded me.
“Yeah, I know but this is
official.” I held out the envelope.
“I wish Pete would get
glasses,” he sighed while taking the bright blue envelope. Our postal carrier
was in desperate need of spectacles. Shey and I were always getting each
other’s mail.
“Open it,” I prompted
when he began to turn away. One golden eyebrow jumped up his brow, but he did
as asked, lifting the flap carefully. “Tell me your one of them people who
refuses to tear wrapping paper and opens the gift real slow and gentle before
folding the paper back up all neat and shit.”
“No.” He peeked at me through some loose hair. “Maybe. Oh, stop
snickering,” he nudged me with his hip as he eased the card out of the
envelope.” Uhm, babe, I’m not having a boy.”
He held up the
‘Congratulations on your new baby boy!” card.
“Yeah, I know. I crossed
that out. It was the only card they had at the thrift shop that come with an
envelope. Just read the inside.” I tugged the card from his fingers and opened
it. “This here on the inside – not the scribbled-out stuff but the words I
wrote – that’s the important shit.”
“You’re really quite
adorable at times.” He leaned in to kiss my whiskery cheek.
“You keep that shit to
yourself. I got a reputation to protect.”
His eyes scanned the
scribble inside the card then rose to me. “Is this an invitation to Sunday
dinner at your place?”
“Yeah,” I replied,
inhaling the smell of oils on the air, or maybe the intoxicating scent was
coming from Shey. “I figured, you know, it was time for me to pay you back for
all the foot rubs, tea, tofu burgers, zucchini squares, and blow jobs.”

We often get the neighbors' mail. This was a cute scene. Well done.
It's all about paying back. 😜
oh man! I hate meticulous present openers! LOL! Good job!
I love it already
Thanks for dropping by all!
Great easy banter back and forth between these two. Nice slice of life. So enjoying this story.
I love their playful banter with each other and just how hard Marek is trying to impress Shey. That last line is priceless!
Great scene! I LOVED the part about the thrift store card & how he used it.
Made me chuckle. Great scene.
