MM Goodness Book Review - The Hockey Player's Heart by Jeff Adams & Will Knauss

#MM #Hockey #Romance

What a wonderfully delightful book! And I’m not saying that because one of the leading men just happens to be the Rangers captain. That tidbit only added to overall appeal of this romance for me. I was swept up in this book and found myself cheering for Caleb and Aaron throughout.

This is a well-written read, with a lovely laid-back pace and a slow-burn romance between two old friends who are reunited after an injury sends our hockey player back home to recuperate. I loved the tenderness of the book, and the low angst as well. Both men acted maturely and faced their difficulties and differences head on.

The secondary characters were warm and engaging (I hope we get a second book for Caleb’s best friend on the Rangers because he really intrigued me) and the ending everything that I was hoping for. The hockey action was brisk and right on mark for accuracy. Oh, and the sex is nice and spicy!

A lovely read from start to finish and if I may? GO RANGERS!

Tuesday Tales - Hideous

It`s time for Tuesday Tales.

Today we have another excerpt from Overtime, Cayuga Cougars #4, an MMM hockey romance book.

Our word prompt today is “Hideous”. In today’s scene, Sander is headed to Florida for the AHL All-Star Game and is doing a bit of texting with Mateo and Noah before he leaves New York state.

This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!

My flight to Boca was leaving at 6:15 AM. I could have left later, like Dan and his annoying spouse were, but I wanted as much beach time as possible. I was sipping some hideous coffee as I waited to pass through the security checkpoint. Ithaca-Tompkins was a small airport, clean, with friendly staff, but the security crap was dragging for some reason.

Missing the guys, I sent them a quick selfie of me against a window, loose snow whirling around on the other side of the glass.

Envy me. Three hours from now my toes are in the sand.

Not thirty seconds later, Mat hit me back with a short text.

Fucker.

Followed by a picture of him and Noah, all curled up in bed with each other with a text that read:

Envy us. Three minutes from now we’re going to be lost in each other.

“Son-of-a-bitch,” I muttered under my breath and then sent him my own one-word reply.

Fucker.

That got me a laughing emoji and a short message right after it.

Wish you were here, Sander. We miss you already.

I wished I was there too, but I also knew this was a hell of an opportunity for me and my career. Shame I couldn’t have afforded to fly them both down to spend the week with me. Counting every penny sucked royally.

I miss you guys too. I glanced up to see I was next in line. Got to go. I’m next to have my bags scanned and shit. Talk to you when in FLA.

I carried that mental image of Mat and Noah with me during the three-hour flight south. It made sitting uncomfortable what with a raging boner for half the damn trip. It was tough not to imagine them wound around each other, making love. Now I had better knowledge of the sounds and smells associated with sex and my two new lovers. The fluttering way Noah breathed as he neared orgasm, the rough grip of Mateo’s hand, the musky scent of aroused male in my sinuses…

Jacking off in the bathroom was looking to be the only solution until some baby started screaming behind me. That killed the hard-on and the erotic memories instantly.

Blurb:

Layton Foxx works hard for what he has. The condo, the career, the chance to make his mark, is all down to the sacrifices he has made.

With tragedy in his past, he doesn’t want or need love. Then he meets Adler Lockhart, the extroverted, sexy winger for the Harrisburg Railers and abruptly he can’t avoid love even if he wanted to.

Adler Lockhart has had everything handed to him his whole life. Cars, villas, cash, college tuition at the finest Ivy League schools. The only things he doesn’t have are parents who care or the love of a good man.

Then Layton walks into his privileged life and shows him what real love can be like.

Excerpt:

He cocked a dark eyebrow.

“What? You think spending hours playing a gem drop game while the perfect pen set for the man you fantasize spine-kissing is en route to me isn’t sensitive?”

“What?” He coughed. I blinked. “What did you say?” His brows tangled.

“That I spent hours playing some stupid gem drop game on my phone while I waited for the courier to arrive from King of—”

“No, not that. The other part of your comment.” He looked flushed and hot. Well, he was always hot, but hot under the collar, I meant.

“I don’t know what I said.”

His mouth opened and shut a few times. Nothing came out.

“Are you having a seizure or something?” I enquired as he worked to speak or breathe. Wasn’t sure which. Maybe he’d need mouth to mouth. I could get into that.

“That’s why you need to learn not to feel and speak simultaneously,” he finally said.

“Apollo said the same thing in the parking garage last night. Actually, he says that to me all the time,” I commented.

Layton’s face tightened. “That’s another thing we need to discuss. If you’re not out yet, then public displays of affection with your boyfriend in public places shouldn’t be happening.”

“You said public twice,” I pointed out. That seemed to add to his flustered thoughts, which amped up his hotness into the stratosphere. “Were you spying on me?”

“Don’t be asinine.” He stalked to the door and whipped it open. “This meeting is over. We’re out of time, and you’re obviously out of touch with how to conduct yourself.”

“That’s a Hall & Oates song.” I couldn’t stop looking at his mouth. “And that guy I hugged in the parking lot wasn’t my boyfriend—he’s my best friend and personal assistant.”

“Oh. Maybe you should make sure my advice about public displays is carried home to your boyfriend.”

I took a step closer to him. He stood his ground. I pushed the door closed. He straightened his spine and wet his lips. A jolt of lust hit me right in the balls. I wanted to wet his lips for him.

“‘Out of Time’ is a Hall & Oates song,” I told him as the magnetic pull of Layton Foxx had me moving toward him. “And I don’t have a boyfriend. You want the job?”

“Hall & Oates is… what?” He took a step in reverse, then faltered, as if he suddenly remembered he wasn’t going to be intimidated by me any longer. The cloud of lust and male pheromones was thick on the air. His cologne and mine intermingled and created a new aroma that was rich, sinful and lusty.

“I could use a man in my life to keep my mouth from getting away from me,” I said in a gruff voice. His gray eyes darted to my mouth. He wet his lips again. I leaned in slowly, trying to give him time to duck away or skitter to a corner or grab that fucking stapler and staple me in the forehead. He didn’t do any of those things, though.

He exhaled shakily through slightly parted lips as I pressed my mouth over his. I inhaled his breath. He’d had coffee with almond flavoring recently. I wished I could plunge my tongue into his mouth to see if the amaretto creamer he’d obviously used still lingered there, but I didn’t. I just leaned in a little more to apply a bit more pressure. He was shorter than me but not by too much. Just the right amount. Leaner, too. God, I wanted to get my hands on him and feel those hard angles and tight muscles. His fingers came to rest on my shoulder. All the blood rushed from my head to my groin, leaving me lightheaded and as hard as a railroad spike.

I cupped his cheek, the skin smoothly shaven under my fingertips.

“Or maybe dinner first?” I asked.

Tuesday Tales - Greasy

 It`s time for Tuesday Tales.

Today we have another excerpt from Overtime, Cayuga Cougars #4, an MM hockey romance book.

Our word prompt today is “Greasy”. This scene is the first time that Sander meets Noah Coombs, Mateo’s boyfriend, and the third partner in this polyamorous romance.

This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!

I peeked around the sharp corner into the living room as I pulled off my coat. Nothing fancy in the way of furnishings but damn the man sitting on a big pillow on the floor sure was beautiful. Short sandy blond hair, a startling pair of sky blue eyes, and cheek bones you could rest a beer bottle on, Noah sat looking at me, his long legs folded into a lotus, a pad of some sort on his lap. He was wearing a tank top and lounge pants. His feet were bare.
“Hey,” I said to break the spell he seemed to be in. His gaze darted to Mat coming back into the living room.
“Kind of hard to see the TV from there. Come in,” Mat said, waving at me before flopping down into a couch that had a massive sag in the middle. “Bring that controller. We’ll get you logged in and then we’ll hit that pizza.”
I moseyed into the big room, giving the pictures on the walls a cursory glance and then eyeing the blond who was still staring at me openly. The closer I got the better I could see the fine details of his face. Thick, dark lashes tipped with gold, a small mole on his shoulder right above a floral looking tattoo on his right bicep. His right ear was pierced, and a small tulip hung from his lobe. His tank top also had a bunch of flowers on it.
“Sander, this is my boyfriend, Noah Coombs. Babe, this is Sander March. I told you about him? The hockey player.” Mat spoke while firing up the PS4.
“You were both losers,” Noah commented, his gaze finally leaving me to return to the large sketchpad resting on his lap. Now that I was closer I saw that he had a pencil. Mat had said he was a comic artist. Maybe he was creating a new comic.
“Yeah, pretty much,” I replied, picturing these two striking men pressed up against each other, bared to my eyes, cocks hard and weepy, kissing and caressing each other. My dick liked that image. A lot. I sat down fast, and leaned up to hide the half hard prick in my jeans. Flustered, I grasped at something to say. “You drawing a new comic?”
I heard Mat suck in a sharp breath through his teeth. Fuck.
“It’s not a comic, it’s a manga.” Noah replied, got to his bare feet, and walked into the kitchen, his sketchpad in his hand.
“Sorry,” I immediately said. “I just felt weird and he was staring at me and…”
“It’s okay.” I gave Mat a doubtful look. “Seriously, it’s okay. He’s sensitive about it but since you’re a new friend, he’ll let it slide quickly. Also, I should have warned you about how intense Noah can be at times.”
“Intense how?” The sound of glass plates being taken from a cupboard floated out of the kitchen.
“He’s an artist and sometimes he gets…lost in the appreciation of beauty.”
I blinked a few times. “You’re saying that he stares at people like that all the time?”
“Only ones he finds artistically appealing.” Mat smiled gently. “That’s a compliment by the way. Don’t be surprised if your face turns up in one of his yaoi books.”
“Thanks, for the compliment. I think you guys are hot too.” The room felt a little too warm now, Mateo’s cologne a tad too appealing. “What’s yaoi?”
“It’s a Japanese genre of illustrated gay romance, basically.”
“Oh.” I turned my head to try to see into the kitchen. That would be kind of cool to be in a gay comic. Manga. Shit. I really needed to get that pounded into my head. When I looked back at Mat, he was holding out my controller, a soft sort of sensual smile playing on his lips. “Like how explicit are these yaoi books?”
“Oh, they can be pretty graphic, but his are tempered with lots of romance.”
“Huh, and this is for gay men?” I seriously had never heard of this before.
“Usually it’s written by women for women. I know, go figure, but sure, gay men buy them. Noah works under a pen name, since the whole for women by women thing. Tulip Ito.”
“That’s his pen name?”
“Yeah.” Mat glanced from me to something behind me. “Hey babe, I was just telling Sander about your books and your pen name. You cool with him?”
“Guess so.” Noah came around the sofa with two glass plates holding two slices of greasy pizza each. “It’s manga.” He said, his voice low and smooth, as if he feared being too loud or something. “Not comics.”
“Right, totally got that. Thanks man.” I took the dinner plate. Noah then disappeared into the kitchen, coming out later with his sketch pad, a plate of his own, and a beer. He never said another word to me or Mat, just walked behind the beater sofa and disappeared into a room that I assumed was the bedroom.
Artists seemed to be just as quirky as goalies.

Queer Romance Freebie & Fan Club - Taster Book

QUEER ROMANCE FREEBIE & FAN CLUB – FREE TASTER BOOK

Strong and Sexy - A selection of tasters from the Queer Romance Freebie and Fan Club authors.

QRFFC is a Facebook group made up of romance authors that has over 2,300 members now, and shares freebies, new releases, and competitions.

The fourteen romance authors involved are often asked what of their own books they would like to recommend as a place to start.

So, we came up with this idea to create a book you can download onto your own reader with first chapters, buy links, social links and news, for a selection of the authors. We also thought we’d group items together, for example, contemporary, paranormal etc.

The first taster book is called Strong & Sexy and can be downloaded to your desktop from the following links:

Containing information and news from:

N.R. Walker, Keira Andrews, Eli Easton, Jay Northcote, RJ Scott, V.L. Locey, DJ Jamison, Leta Blake, Posy Roberts, Jamie Fessenden, Annabelle Jacobs, and Amber Kell.

My featured book is The Point Shot Trilogy

Now, you can have the books that introduced Victor Kalinski to the world in one reasonably priced boxed set! With over 350 Goodreads reviews and ratings combined, the romance of Vic Kalinski and Dan Arou is one that once read, will never be forgotten. In this three-book set, you’ll get to experience all the passion, sarcasm, hockey action, and romance that reviewers have called “Beautifully Written”, “Surprisingly Heartfelt”, and “Hot! Hot! Hot!”

“The writing in this is snappy and awesome, the story moves at a great pace and oh it's HOT AS EVER-LOVING HELL. There's romance that never veers into a too-sappy place, it's FUNNY and full of great lines right and left, and so engaging that I couldn't stop reading it. The ending is satisfying, with our characters not becoming perfect people but becoming better together than they are apart, and that's just about as romantic as it gets.”  Avon Gale – Author of the Scoring Chances series

Readers should be over 18 due to mature language and gay sexual situations. The set includes:

Two Man Advantage (Point Shot Trilogy #1)
Game Misconduct (Point Shot Trilogy #2)
Full Strength (Point Shot Trilogy #3)

Story Spotlight - The Hockey Player's Heart by Jeff Adams & Will Knauss

Many thanks to V.L. for letting me talk about The Hockey Player’s Heart, which is a Dreamspun Desires category romance that I co-wrote with my husband, Will Knauss. The book is a feel-good, second chance romance between New York Rangers captain Caleb Carter and third-grade school teacher Aaron Price. When Caleb and Aaron were in high school, Aaron tutored Caleb in geometry. The boys had crushes on each other that they didn’t admit.

Since this is a tropey, category romance there’s not a lot of angst. Even in terms of the second chance, Caleb and Aaron don’t have baggage to sort through in their shared history. Aaron is best friend to Caleb’s older sister and Caleb is a year younger so they ran in slightly different circles as teens. They were more than acquaintances, but they weren’t friends. As they reconnect, both out adults, there’s an immediate desire to catch up with each other and those old crushes can now be fully explored

Here’s the strange thing about writing this book for me--the lead character is a member of the Rangers. V.L. knows I root for (in pretty equal measure) Detroit and Pittsburgh. I grew up in Flint, so the Red Wings are in my blood. My Penguins allegiance goes back to the Lemieux/Jagr days because those two played some beautiful hockey. I’ve stayed a fan ever since. However, I do love Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist. There’s nothing quite like watching him tend a net.

Anyway, we made Caleb a Ranger because we wanted the bulk of the book set in upstate New York and Caleb needed to be able to get back to the team pretty easily. I couldn’t allow him to be on either of the other New York teams (with apologies to Islanders and Sabres fans). So, he’s a Ranger.

I hope you’ll pick up a copy of The Hockey Player’s Heart and enjoy the romance between Caleb and Aaron--as well as the hockey that gets played along the way!

Blurb:
Hometown hero. Hockey superstar. Perfect boyfriend?

When hockey star Caleb Carter returns to his hometown to recover from an injury, the only thing he’s interested in is a little R & R. He never expects to run into his onetime crush at a grade school fund-raiser . Seeing Aaron Price hits him hard, like being checked into the boards. The attraction is still there, even after all these years, and Caleb decides to make a play for the schoolteacher. You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take, right?

Aaron has been burned by love before and can’t imagine what a celebrity like Caleb could possibly see in a guy like him. Their differences are just too great. But as Aaron spends more time with Caleb, he begins to wonder if he might have what it takes to win the hockey player’s heart.

MM Goodness Book Review - Wild Trail (Clean Slate Ranch #1) by A.M. Arthur

Amazon

Phew! Phew! And phew again! My gosh this book is a hot one and I loved it to bits.

Mix one city boy with one gruff cowboy and stir well. What you end up with is a wonderful, sexy start to what looks to be an amazing series. The author wove the story perfectly, dropping in compelling pasts for our leading men, realistic dialog, a fine mystery, and appealing secondary characters.

Wes and Mack were a great pairing. The romance was nicely paced, the sexual attraction vibrant, and the sex itself was close to melting the cover of my Kindle. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Arthur brings us next. Make sure you grab a copy of Wild Trail as soon as possible and spend some time at the Clean Slate Ranch. You will not be sorry!
